New Year wishes

Well here we are at the beginning of another year.  Barry and I have long ago given up sending Christmas cards to folk; but we still enjoy sending people wishes for the new year. We usually use the time between Christmas and New Year to make our cards and then try to sit down and write them early.

This year we both decided to do letterpress cards. Believe it or not they are black on white!

And here's the locked up chase ready to print, and some detail.

And lots of images of the cards in progress...

We smiled at the end of it because we realised how the same paper, the same ink and the same parameters (2016) can be interpreted so differently by two people and the results that emerge reflect them so perfectly!

Here are Barry's...he used antique wood type and his BSA (Barry Smith Art) stamp.

And this was a test run for placement and positioning of both type and embossing! Now acting as a coaster in the studio.

Sending you wishes for a year filled with magical moments, happiness, health and creativity.

  4. It's fascinating to note the similarities & the differences between your two cards... I especially like the type that you chose - so elegant, and even just a couple of lines can "say" & mean so much...
Hope 2016 continues to be a wonderful year, both in the studio & in the larger "studio" of the world!
