  • Bound and Lettered Vol. 12 Number 3. This features an article I wrote on my calligraphic pebbles along with a brief tutorial on how make the book page pouches I use to package them in.

  • Colophon Vol. 36 No.2. I have two articles in this journal - one a report on the exhibition Pieces for Peace held in Ieper, Belgium 2014; and notes from a short visit to Brugge - the European capital of Calligraphy. 


  • Down Under Textiles, Issue 15. A short article featuring works from the exhibition - Artistic Journeys Through the Alphabet, held at Cooroy Butter Factory Gallery in 2014.



  •  Bound and Lettered Vol. 11 Number 2 This article focusses on calligraphic and alphabetical works from the exhibition Artistic Journeys Through the Alphabet - the culmination of A Letter a Week.


  • Lark Handmade Books Vol. 2 Two of my favourite artists' books are featured in this stunning book. On page 214 you will find "A Subversive Stitch", whilst on page 313 is my book "The Unbearable Whiteness...". The book is filled with beautiful artists' books and inspiration, and Julie Chen had this to say about A Subversive Stitch in the introduction:
"Other artists investigate specific aspects of the book, including the physical properties of their materials....while Fiona Dempster's A Subversive Stitch (page 214), with its tangled mass of red thread and sutured sentences, plays with ideas of binding, oppression and free speech."




  • Bound and Lettered, Vol. 10, Number 4. This features an article I wrote about writing on timber called "Words on wood". The article explores the process of writing in ink on a large timber post which now resides in the main street of Maleny.


  • Salt magazine, Winter edition 2013. Barry and I are featured in thsi Sunshine Coast lifestyle magazine in the "Meet the Designers" section. To read the full article on p.104 link here.

  • A Year of Thursday Thoughts.  This is a book that brings together the first year of my weekly blog posts called Thursday Thoughts and the conversations and comments that ensued. Just for me.


  • Textile magazine, Number 104, Issue 4, featured an article I wrote about Kim Schoenberger's body of work "Expressions of Love".
  • In Bound and Lettered, Vol 9. Number 2, an article I wrote about A Letter a Week 2010 was published. It told the story of the project's first year and featured final alphabets from the second alphabet by five of our participants.  Photographs of my work were also included in a feature on the Australian Society of Calligrapher's book "Words Work"
  • Colophon Vol. 32 Number 3 offers a feature on me as an artist; as well as a detailed story of how I developed Cartography I and my recipe for rusting paper!

  • The Australian Book Arts Journal (Issue 5 June 2011) included an article I wrote In praise of paper and thread. The article explores how much I love and admire paper, its many strengths and paradoxes, and the joy of stitching on paper.
  • An article I wrote describing the A Letter a Week 2010 project was published in Colophon (Vol 32, No. 1, December 2010), the journal of the Australian Society of Calligraphers. The article describes the project and the enjoyment of participants, and a four page (and back cover) colour spread showcases the final pieces produced for the first alphabet.


  • The Australian Society of Calligraphers produced the beautiful book "Words Work" which features contemporary calligraphy and lettering art from Australia and New Zealand. My work is featured on page 42.

  • The Edge, Volume 9, Issue 5, Early Summer 2004 shows three of my calligraphic pieces as part of a feature on Australasian Calligraphy.
