I printed up a storm over a couple days - doing the fronts of 200 pages one day and the backs the next.
There is nothing quite like production to hone skills, and build a better understanding of what to do and how to do it!
I started with printing a page for a letterpress calendar - so here it is - May 2017.
I wanted to trial a few ornaments - the stars - and loved the grand shadow letters and the calendar block.
But I still had a heap of ink on the rollers and the plate, so grabbed some wood type and printed a few of these:

I printed 100 or so calendar pages, then another 100 "Let Peace be a Daily Conversation" pieces. I let them dry overnight, then turned them over and priced on the backs of them.
I had a good rhythm going on the old Lightning Jobber!
And felt chuffed at the end of it.
A great way to finish!
Yeah, I find it's that ink at the end combined with the chuffed feeling that produces the best impromptu work and ideas :)

DeleteI got to the end of reading this and shouted 'You go girl' out loud. It startled Roy and I had to explain. I am so impressed with your forward planning for next year. As for me.... I am contemplating a letterpress course inspired by your efforts. It's over five evenings and I'm thinking maybe a small book of print ideas and some typeset exchanges.... too ambitious? Perhaps I should stop now before another obsession takes hold!

DeleteThe forward planning is simply requirement - the calendar gets put together in October! I know you would become addicted to letterpress - it is such an experimental delight which nearly always gives you something you love back. Go do it girl!
