One of the commissions I have at the moment involves celebrating the Friends of the Library in a town a little bit away from us. So we are working with books and words and I am making a 3-D piece to sit within a glass cabinet/coffee table in the Library.
Part of the work involves folding a book and I became quite enchanted by the pages the other day...
I love the myriad of patterns that emerge as parts of words and letters are revealed. I love the waviness of the page numbering. And just the general gorgeousness of folded pages!

ooo I love these pics!
ReplyDeleteThey're delightful aren't they Ronnie?
DeleteWhat a delight! One could get lost in the maze of letters along the folds. I'm curious...what is the book? One of your choice or the library's?
ReplyDeleteOh Jennifer - confession time. The Friends wanted a green theme so I had to have a green spined book. I found one in a nearby op-shop; and guess what? the book was Fiona by Catherine Gaskin! I had to buy it...A bit cheeky, but I will leave my mark in more ways than one this time!
DeleteF- beautiful images - text, lines and texture - I can see why you wanted to capture and share them. B
ReplyDeleteThanks B - the waviness of the lines is a bit mesmerising in a way...
DeleteAs a fellow book folder, I can fully understand the hypnotic effect of the folded page. I think the serendipity of the title of the book speaks volumes about the project - pun intended :)
ReplyDeleteHi Robyn - I knew you'd understand! I also love the feel of the folded pages, flicking them thru my fingers. I am always intrigued by the patterns the print makes-it's just so lovely. Enjoy!
DeleteAbsolutely totally delicious - marks on the page. Musical really.
ReplyDeleteThey are musical aren't they Susan? I love how they move and dance across...Such fun!
DeleteLovely images! How lucky you were to find the perfect book with the perfect name :-)
ReplyDeleteI know Robyn - what a funny moment that was - I had to just grab it.
Deletethese closeups are delicious.
ReplyDeleteThanks Velma - I often think angles and close-ups offer such interest and beauty; quite a different experience from the whole picture.
