Pieces pieces everywhere...

Our exhibition is looming - opening night Friday 30 August - and the works and schedules are due well before then.

I have only just been able to get back into the studio in the last day or two and I feel as if I have pieces, pieces everywhere... and none of them quite finished!

Still, it's better than not having anything at all I guess.

Here are some glimpses of works in progress; some of which may finish up in the show, some of which may not.

There are lots of little tests and trials going on as well - it takes me so long to test an idea, check if it will work, and then try to replicate it.

Here I am pondering options for covering a book - will I use leather or paper? Will I try to add an embellishment to the cover or leave it plain?

The joy is the journey for sure - I just sometimes wish the destination wasn't quite so close by time-wise!

    1. Thanks Charlton - I sometimes think the interweb can be tough - it makes you want to be closer. I like those pieces as well...

  3. A rare and lovely glimpse into the artist's world - wish I was nearer and could visit the exhibition but hopefully you will be posting some of the finished works here - not the same I know but it will have to do for someone in the UK

    1. Thanks Rosie - yes the UK is a wee bit far to travel for the show, but I often wish we could transport or teleport ourselves to see each other's work.

  4. '...it takes me so long to test an idea, check if it will work, and then try to replicate it.' I understand what you mean, it happens to me too. I love the embossed papers, they could make beautiful book covers. (Can you tell I'm not too fond of leather?) I hope you'll beat your tight deadline easily.

    1. Thanks Ersi - one of my favourite phrases is "I wish I could make my mistakes faster". Often its only after a long and dedicated time that I realise something isn't going to work. Fingers crossed the right things will happen, and that deadlines are met.
