In between Christmas and New Year Barry and I have been making and writing our New Year cards, a tradition we began together a number of years ago and which still works for us. Just a short note and quick moment to wish friends and folk we don't stay in touch with much otherwise, health and happiness as they enter another year.
I think I have a record of previous years' cards here and here and here - those since blogging began anyway. Barry has done another beautiful one - over at his blog Rustnstuff.
This year I went for a simple idea - building on the red machine stitching that I did for my book A Subversive Stitch, I sewed the year onto card and then scanned it and printed them onto Bristol board card.
Short, sweet and simple, and reflective of something I have spent time with in the year before.
May 2013 bring us all peace, happiness and quiet fulfilment. Go well.

That adage about less being more is proved here Fiona. Classy, simple and elegant. Thank you for your best wishes for a creative and fulfilling 2013.It is reciprocated many fold to you both. x
ReplyDeleteThanks Lesley - I'm sure we'll enjoy the year together in blog land! I sometimes fear that my less is more approach will leave me with an empty page, but I do really like less! Best to you in 2013...
DeleteEvery time I think of those words - the subversive stitch - I just start smiling. Glad to see you've had that red thread out again!
ReplyDeleteThanks Annie - it makes me smile as well - I wish I had coined it! Loving the red thread again and the randomness of it all, best to you in 2013.
DeleteYes. Less is definitely more and you do it so, so well. May all your wishes come true.
ReplyDeleteThanks J - as I said to Lesley, a part of me fears I'll end up with nothing as I do the less is more thing, but for now, for me, it feels pretty much right. I think the year ahead holds much hope...go well.

ReplyDeleteI think you've shown us time and time again that the space between 'less is more' & 'nothing' is enormous! Your red stitched numbers are festive and full of hope for the New Year. May it be a wonderful year for you & Barry...
