Thursday Thoughts...

“Anyone can love a rose, but it takes a lot to love a leaf. It’s ordinary to love the beautiful, but it’s beautiful to love the ordinary.”

Sweet and simple and oh so true!  I think one of the joys of having discovered an art tribe amongst the interweb is the realisation that we nearly all stop and look at things that others might dismiss as old, ugly, worn or whatever; and see within them some beauty.

Oftentimes ageing beauty; oftentimes stoic beauty; sometimes solitary beauty; sometimes independent beauty...so many things have beauty within them that we might otherwise pass by.

I love the notion that it is beautiful to love the ordinary.

And so often the ordinary is so beautiful!

    1. Interesting Liz! I love one rose in particular - Papa Meilland. It is the deepest and most fragrant rose I know and every time I cut a bloom I sink deep into its heady magnificent. That said, I can pretty much leave all the others!

  2. What a lovely thought - seeing beauty in the ordinary. It is all around us and appreciating it brings pleasure every day. Perhaps this means enjoying complex reflections in a high rise building, the pattern in an English country hedge in winter or the rich salmon pink in the breast of a male bullfinch. And what an added pleasure it is to share all this with like minds on the web!

    1. I think all of those things are just it Charlton/ Margaret! I think paying attention to the little things, smiling at those moments, certainly makes us happier and possibly healthier as well! Go well.
