Flags for Peace

Our friend Mary Jane, who we met up with in New York (for the first time!) had a wonderful idea about artists making peace flags, hanging them on International Day of Peace on 21 September, taking photographs and sharing them on our blogs - a ring of peace around the world.

She has now taken it one step further and created a separate blog called flags for peace project 2012 where you are all invited to join in the project and make some flags to fly, or simply follow, or contribute thoughts on peace.

The International Day of Peace will happen during our Open Studios month, so we will have our flags flying for all the folk who visit to see as well.  I think mine will be very ephemeral - made of paper perhaps and slowly disintegrating and returning to the earth as they fly and flutter and face the rain and the sun and the wind...

Mary Jane invites us all to create  a ripple of peace throughout the world... and so we begin.

  1. thank you so very much fiona for your support in this venture... while i may have had a desire to do something like this, it is only with the support of and participation by those equally dedicated to a peaceful planet that this could even happen... and so i am very, very grateful...

  2. I am very happy to participate in this project. No single person can bring about the change we need, but each of us can create a ripple - and I am sure we will be joined by many; so that the ripples will converge around the earth and grow into something much stronger. Let us begin...

  3. Thanks Mary-Jane - I think you have tapped into a well of peace-seeking folk and it is a great gift to be sharing...

Indeed strata - let us begin! Each in our own small ways can bring and add and share peace. I love the idea of connecting us all around the globe...
