No idea really...

Barry and I have a busy year ahead.  Each week we try to sit down and go thru the multiplicity of lists we have around the house - the year planner, the task lists, the work-work lists, the weekly and monthly planners and the daily to do lists - and try to work out how to stay in front, how to keep up and how not to fall behind.

It isn't really all that bad, but we do need to remind ourselves to breathe. Partly because we always want to be participating in things, doing things, and making things happen, we seem to fill our schedule quite quickly.

From August onwards this year is basically gone - filled to the gills with commitments, exhibitions, celebrations and other things which will bring us much joy.  But we are beginning to plan for them, to see if we can get in front and not be left struggling as they arrive.

The last weekend in October is the Maleny Celebration of Books. It will be great fun again and I am so looking forward to it. It will bring some wonderful people together again to do good things and share our love of books, writing and reading.

I have at least two, maybe three or four responsibilities that weekend. I will run a book-making workshop for children again, maybe for adults as well this time. We are planning a bookish display in the Library foyer and dream of dreams a proper artists' book exhibition as well.

We'll see how we go with all the options, but I am beginning to think about the bookish display in the Library cabinets. Last year we had artists' books in there, but we couldn't really do them justice, so this time I just want to make a bookish arty thingy - as the title of the post goes, no idea really.

So I have been playing with book pages, and writing and cutting and hanging...all good fun even if it goes nowhere!

  2. I like the big ink script over the printed pages. Think you could do something amazing with that idea.

    1. Thanks Annie - those bold splotches have so much life and movement don't they? I can see something coming out of them, not sure what yet.

  3. The amazing thing is that you have ALL these commitments and STILL find time to play and make and explore opportunities. Whatever medication you are on Fiona, please tell me and I'll get my doctor to prescribe me some!

    1. Laugh Lesley! I don't know quite what it is, but we both have this sense of being and doing and...whatever is next... Sometimes even tho I want to be making I realise I need to stop first and play/explore, and the results can be so rewarding. I am also quite good at sitting still and reading a good book!

  5. You and Barry are both amazing, Fiona, but you obviously thrive on your busy and creatives lives, and just look at the beautiful output from you both. These pages look like wonderful beginnings and as for that rusty photo at the end - well, I just love that.

    1. I think we are lucky we work-work from home and can therefore use time differently in a way. We are also fortunate in that we both understand and get the need for making (rather than dusting say), and that we live in a community filled with opportunities and support. Go well in your adventures.

  6. That is a very full schedule, inspring, all that you do. It'll be interesting to see where you go from "No idea really...." because I'm sure it will be somwhere meaningful!

    1. Hi Valerianna - I am hoping I end up somewhere meaningful and beautiful! Still, I do know I want to make black ink marks on old book pages. That's a start. They might be legible or they might not. Maybe one will be and the other won't be? We'll see, but it's good to have made a start.

  7. I don't know how you do it! So many art commitments AND a day job! The third image really appeals to me but no matter what you do I know I will love it.

  8. Thanks Robyn - I often reflect on how lucky it is that we share the same approach to time management and both want to squeeze the most out of life. Not to say we don't enjoy sitting and reading, sipping wine and yarning, but we do like being busy. I like those darker, larger marks as well and having chopped them up and turned them around like a jigsaw they looked interesting...Go well!

  9. It looks (from here, at least) that you are well on your way to somewhere! At the very least, you are moving in the 'right' direction...it will be fun to see where all of your lovely experiments take you. Enjoy!

    1. Thanks Charlton - for stopping by and and for commenting. I just wanted to add something to the pages and what better than a rusty washer? And then more contrast - wrapped in gold - yum! I hope you enjoy your visits, I enjoy pondering and chatting with folk who stop by.
