Thursday Thoughts...

“The most powerful weapon on earth is the human soul on fire”

Ferdinand Foch

Some of the most amazing quotes some front the oddest of places.  I found this one on the wall of a Melbourne laneway - spray painted on as reminder to all of us.

I think it evokes brilliantly how good passion is. How when one cares about something, believes in something, is passionate about something, that we become vocal and powerful and unstoppable (almost).

The imagery of a soul on fire, blazing, bright and hot suggests that we're not talking about a soul simmering away; or coming to the boil, or simply embers. When we are so fully engaged and passionate, we are on fire and we are powerful.

Maybe time to once again get on-fire...

  1. brings to mind Dr Clarissa Pinkola Estés "Letter To A Young Activist During Troubled Times"
"...One of the most calming and powerful actions you can do to intervene in a stormy world is to stand up and show your soul. Soul on deck shines like gold in dark times. The light of the soul throws sparks, can send up flares, builds signal fires ... causes proper matters to catch fire. To display the lantern of soul in shadowy times like these — to be fierce and to show mercy toward others, both — are acts of immense bravery and greatest necessity. Struggling souls catch light from other souls who are fully lit and willing to show it. If you would help to calm the tumult, this is one of the strongest things you can do."
