“I want to think dangerous and noble things.
I want to be light and frolicsome.
I want to be improbable, beautiful and afraid of nothing;
as though I had wings.”
Mary Oliver
Ahhh Mary Oliver.
I find this series of words encouraging and uplifting; put together as they are, I think they are ever so wonderful.
Having moved from a career world where there were performance indicators; goals, targets, reviews, strategies and the like time as an artist and as a person means I rarely have to come up with words to describe my goals or my strategies.
Sometimes art will lead me to think about goals and what I hope to do and achieve; but rarely do I set life goals or strategies.
If I stopped to think about how I would like to be in the world - my goal of being a person and the way I live my life; these couple of sentences would definitely come close and would at the very least initiate a fine ramble of ideas that's for sure!
Thinking dangerous and noble thoughts; being light and frolicsome, improbable, and afraid of nothing...
A fabulous pairing in one of our trees - a magpie and a pure white goshawk... perhaps not frolicsome!
